Detained Legal Activist Guo Feixiong Describes 25-Day Hunger Strike

Date: 2013-11-14

Rights activist and self-taught lawyer Yang Maodong (杨茂东), better known by his pen name Guo Feixiong (郭飞雄), told his lawyer Sui Muqing (隋牧青) that he had been on a 25-day hunger strike starting on August 8, when he was officially taken into custody by police.  This was Yang’s first meeting with any lawyer since being detained on charges of “assembling a crowd to disrupt order in a public place” in connection with his work to organize campaigns for political reform. Lawyer Sui reportedly tried eight times to visit Yang in detention, only to be repeatedly refused.
